Dario Buratti

Generative Systems Artist
Opera-Sistema · Work-as-System

I build works-as-systems: entire generative systems that take place in real time, read live data from the world and transduce it into image, sound and language. The work lives in the grammar that governs them, with declared thresholds and rules.

Works

Each work represents a different systemic state. What emerges is a dynamic, creative flow that evolves in real time.

Theory

The theory of the Work-as-System took shape in Artribune in 2026 and continues in the book L'Opera-Sistema · Work-as-System. Three cornerstones hold the work together.

Work-as-System

Opera-Sistema

The identity of the work lies in the generative grammar that produces its outcomes and in the field where they occur. Each visible outcome is one of the system's possible states.

Systemic Direction

Regia Sistemica

How the author builds, governs and steers the Work-as-System: sources, thresholds, datasets, grammar. Whoever applies it is the systemic director.

Residual Time

Tempo Residuale

The regime in which a form keeps working beyond its moment of appearance, through persistence, resonance and activation. Its compositional criterion is selective reinjection.

The book

L'Opera-Sistema · Work-as-System proposes the Work-as-System as the smallest critical unit for the art of the present. Three movements, thirteen chapters, Italian and English editions.
